Chocolate Cake Recipes
Black Forest Cake
Black forest cake is a very moist chocolate cake made with crème fraîche and cocoa powder and layers of kirsch (cherry liqueur), cherry jam, mascarpone, maraschino cherries and chocolate shavings. I baked the cakes in mini heart-shaped springform pans, perfect to surprise my husband Lulu for Valentine's Day! Of course, now that I've written it here, he won't be surprised. I'll have to come up with something else. What can I say; his loss is your gain.
I had my first black forest cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte) in 8th grade during German class. We were learning the German words for different ingredients and I remember that it made us all very hungry. In the German textbook, there was a recipe for black forest cake. One of the girls in the class decided to make the cake and brought it in the next day. It was so delicious that I've kept the recipe ever since, though with a few changes. Guten Appetit!

Best Chocolate Cake Recipe Ever... with Peanut Butter Icing!
I recently baked for a huge crowd and needed to make a large quantity of sweets. I immediately thought about making a chocolate cake because everyone I know is a chocoholic. I topped the chocolate-y goodness with a peanut butter icing that made the treat even more decadent and delicious.
Of course, you can divide the quantity if you're baking for a smaller crowd. I actually think the cakes come out more moist and fluffy when they're baked in mini-cake pans. Enjoy!

Chocolate Lava Cake for Two (with Molten Center)
Chocolate lava cake is a simple chocolate cake that has not been fully cooked through. That may not sound very appetizing but the result is a decadent chocolate molten center that oozes out of the cake when you cut into it.
Valentine's Day is on its way! I titled the recipe Chocolate Lava Cake for Two but in my house, I have to share the love with my 10 other family members.
The little one had her first chocolate lava cake today and she asked me, more like demanded, that I make it every day. Even if you're only making it for your special someone, you might want to make a couple more.
