10 Delicious Ways to Use Ripe Peaches Recipe

When we came home from our European trip, we were so ecstatic to find our bountiful garden. I first started with our peach tree and naively started with a small wicker basket. I ended up with a giant wheelbarrow filled with overripe, squishy fruits.

I had a dilemma: how were we going to finish them all without wasting any! If you're Vietnamese, you probably heard your mom telling you when you were a child not to waste food because it's "tội chết" (dreadfully sinful). So here are 10 tasty ways to use ripe peaches. My challenge is to use them up as fast as possible by the end of the week!

My husband Lulu's favorite uncle (it's safe to say this because Daddy only has one brother) generously gave us two large bags filled with apples and pears freshly picked from his garden. They were so sweet that we ate a lot of them straight away.

After having our fill, I prepared several cakes with the remaining fruit. The recipe is fairly basic: simple cake batter, flavored with both vanilla beans and vanilla extract, poured into a non-stick mold and topped with cubes of three apples and one enormous pear. Once the cake was hot and ready, I drizzled it with a little bit of Calvados (apple-flavored liqueur) for extra yumminess.

Peach Macadamia Tart Recipe

Since making the Hawaiian-inspired granola bars (by the way, don't forget to enter this week's Nuts About Granola giveaway that ends on Monday; fill in the box below ), I've been cooking with macadamias, which I love. Macadamia nuts have a rich, creamy taste and I thought they would pair incredibly well with the very last white peaches from our garden. 

I improvised on my standard tart recipe and created a creamy tart composed of a macadamia nut crust and macadamia and peach custard. I sweetened the dessert with smoked sugar from our friends at Bourbon Barrel. When served slightly warm with Häagen-Dazs macadamia nut brittle ice cream, seriously, who could resist? 

Whenever we have guests over, which we do frequently, I like to serve sweets. People can always make room for dessert and it's usually the thing people remember the most. This one will definitely make an impression!

When I last posted a savory Napoleon recipe, I realized I had never posted a traditional napoleon dessert recipe. It's called "mille-feuille" (literally "thousand leaves") in French. Unfortunately, I burned the puff pastry, so I improvised with some Pillsbury crescent rolls! I was surprised at how well it turned out. I flavored the napoleon with peach preserves, peach flavored cream filling along and fresh peaches from our garden along with those we received from Full Circle.

It's an elegant dessert that isn't as difficult to assemble as it seems. A little bit of piping skill for the filling and a toothpick to make the intricate topping decoration are enough to please anyone you know who has a sweet tooth!

We eat lots of different foods in my house. Savory, sweet, Indian, French, Asian, vegetarian or meat, at one time or another we’ve made it. If there’s one common bond among the vastly varied preferences, it’s that everyone in my home has a sweet tooth.

I’m happy to oblige my family’s confectionary cravings, so today I made a peach and cinnamon cake. I flavored it with ultra ripe, sweet peaches and fragrant cinnamon and a layer of almond streusel crumb mixture. This sweet snack is not only good for tea time but is a perfect ending to a school lunch. In fact, I packed a square of the cake along with a small pouch of milk for my little munchkin. Ready-packed 8.25-ounce fresh milk pouches are available at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, so it's very convenient to feed your children a balanced meal, even when they're on the go.
