4th of July Party Food Suggestions Recipe
Being a US citizen for a few years now, I always make sure we have a special celebration on July 4th! Not only am I proud to be an American, but the 4th of July is also a perfect opportunity to gather our loved ones and prepare a barbecue feast. Now that we're finally back from our European trip, I've put together a list of our  favorite recipes for a get-together - read on to find out what my favorites are. I might need a few days to catch up with the jet lag and will be back with new videos and recipes next week.

In the meantime, if you live in the Bay Area, I'm so excited to meet you at Barnes and Noble this Saturday. Be sure to stop by Barnes and Noble Blossom Hill, 5353 Almaden Expressway, Building B in San Jose, California. I'll be doing a cooking demo, followed by a book signing, on July 5th at noon.

Marble Cake Recipe (Marbre au Chocolat) Recipe

If you were born in the 80s and lived in France, you probably know of the marble cake called Le Savane de Papy Brossard. Ça a bercé mon enfance, which I'd translate to "it sweetened my childhood". This coffee cake is a marbré cake. The beauty of this cake is its appealing look once sliced with its gorgeously marbled, streaked appearance made of vanilla and chocolate.

A generous amount of quality butter and a little milk made the cake moist and fluffy while milk chocolate provided the contrast in color needed for this sweet treat. I think the result was very close to the one I had when I was a child. My hope is that baby Aria will keep the same fond memories of this chocolate marble cake once she grows up!

Cookie Butter Blondie Bars Recipe

Cookie Butter Blondie Bars

02.24.14 by Jackie

This is my upscale version of a PB&J sandwich. Instead of using good ol' peanut butter, I used speculoos spread (fancy word for gingerbread cookie butter) and I skipped the bread and prepared blondies mixed with honey-roasted peanuts. As for the jelly part, I used a combination of crushed fresh blackberries and fig spread I prepared last Fall from the figs in our garden.

Every weekend, I try to get the girls involved in the kitchen by preparing a large brunch together. It's a great way for our family to catch up with each other's busy lives. In my opinion, food is a great tool for bonding and sharing memories.

As expected, these cookie butter bars were a (fig and blackberry-flavored) smashing success (no pun intended) for both kids and grownups!

Kale Thanksgiving Bread Stuffing Recipe Recipe

Our Thanksgiving table would be incomplete without vegetarian bread stuffing / dressing. I usually serve it as a side dish so it's a great accompaniment to meat and a main course for the vegetarians in my home.

For this version, I was inspired by green ingredients such as asparagus, zucchini, celery, artichoke, kale, Castelvetrano green olives and Havarti cheese with dill. I used olive bread, a small white onion and homemade vegetable broth I prepared in advance and stored in the freezer for the upcoming holiday. Give this "green" and healthy recipe a try; it might bring a new kick to your Thanksgiving menu.

Pumpkin Marshmallow Butterscotch Oatmeal Bars Recipe

These sinfully scrumptious pumpkin marshmallow butterscotch oatmeal bars may be beautiful to look at and a bit messy to eat, but they were a huge hit at our house. First, I prepared a chewy oatmeal-brown sugar crust for both the base and the topping. For the filling, I selected Thanksgiving-related items such as pumpkin purée, oozy marshmallows, decadent butterscotch chips and chocolate chips.

This sweet treat is definitely going to be part of our Thanksgiving menu. When I asked for the family's feedback, all I heard was "more". You might also want to prepare a batch for the morning following Thanksgiving; these winning bars would be a perfect brunch contribution as well.
