Planting Season

Planting Season Recipe

We got our first plants into the ground today. Baby Aria was all geared up to help her daddy in the garden. My husband Lulu has become such a master gardener over the years; I can't wait to harvest this year's crop of tomatoes, onions, zucchini, tomatillos, radishes, beets and of course specialty potatoes (so I can prepare some of the dishes from my first cookbook, Haute Potato).

Tomatoes are Lulu's favorite thing to plant and there are very particular varieties we've come to love. If you haven't planted yet, I recommend Sun Sugars, Sun Golds, Brandywines, Sweet Million and San Marzanos.

For potatoes, I bought them directly from the market and waited until the eyes started growing. We planted Peruvian purples and fingerlings.

Lastly, I also recommend Persian cucumbers because they're very versatile.
