Fuyu Persimmon: Fruit of the Month

This is a glorious Autumn sight: freshly-harvested Fuyu persimmons.

Simply arrange the fruits on a tray, they will continue to ripen and act as a deodorizer, offering their own pleasant scent to your home.

Did you know persimmons leaves protect from bugs (Geishas would store their kimonos with persimmon leaves)?

Bring fresh, inexpensive and healthy food from your garden to your table. Cut them in wedges, sauté them in butter with a sprinkle of dried mint and a little lime juice; they will accompany a grilled tenderloin beautifully.

Enjoy a simple dessert with probably the sweetest of all nature's gifts in a sweet tart. Place thinly sliced persimmons on rounds of pastry dough. Add a splash of Grand Marnier (orange-flavored cognac liqueur) and finish with crushed pistachios.
