5 Ghoulishly Delicious Halloween Cookies

5 Ghoulishly Delicious Halloween Cookies Recipe

Halloween isn't a big thing in France, so I didn't get to enjoy the festivities until I got married and came to America. Now that I have four young sisters-in-law who just love getting dressed up and going trick-or-treating, I have really gotten into it.

This year I made several batches of cookies that incorporate the colors and flavors of the holiday. Without further ado, here are my 5 favorite Halloween cookies:

Ricotta cookies
Pandan ricotta cookies with carrot glaze.

The little one calls these "witch cookies", because the color reminds her of the green complexion of the Wicked Witch of the West. The ricotta cheese makes the cookies moist and chewy, and keeps them from getting cloyingly sweet.  These cookies are a treat for kids and grownups alike.

Ok, so these aren't exactly cookies, but they are delicious. You could probably put the pumpkin frosting on gravel and it would taste good! The sprinkles set the mood and will make you feel like a kid again.

Halloween Spider Cookies
Lemon and Chocolate-Filled Cardamom Thumbprint Cookies.

This is a great cookie for the artistically inclined. The filling provides a great canvas upon which to draw scary Halloween images. It also tastes great. Make a big batch because these go very fast.

Halloween green cookies
Pandan pistachio white chocolate.

These are my husbands favorite cookies. They have a similar green tint as the pandan ricotta cookies, but the flavor and texture is more like a traditional cookie. Pistachio and white chocolate were meant for each other.

Halloween Treats
Orange-flavored Spritz Sablé Cookies Dipped in Dark Chocolate.

Last but not least, these are my favorite cookies. Sablé cookies are buttery and decadent, and the orange zest and dark chocolate set the right mood for Halloween.

Halloween Drinks
Basil mint lemonade.

Need something to wash down all those cookies? Basil mint lemonade isn't witches' brew, but it sure looks like it.

What a great and original variety of Halloween cookies! The thumbprint cookies are my favorite but those sabl├ęs are running a very, very close second. For someone who didn't grow up with Halloween, you're certainly caught the 'spirit'! 8-D

The word you are looking for is "niece". You have four nieces. I hope you do not have school-aged sisters-in-law that trick or treat...

I have 4 sis-in law. They are my husband's little sisters. There's a big age difference between him and the girls. They're aged 5, 10, 12 and 13 years old.
