Thanksgiving Appetizer Ideas

Our typical Thanksgiving starts with my husband Lulu watching the game, so we usually have a pre-Thanksgiving dinner with bite-sized portions before the Gargantuan feast. This year, Sunny will be back home from her college dorm and will be accompanied by her roomie, whose family lives on the East Coast. I'm sure serving appetizers to the two petite young ladies won't scare them away from our "real" Thanksgiving. I've listed a few appetizers I prepared over the years; I'm still not sure which ones will make it to the table in a few days. Happy planning!

My 15 Best Pumpkin Recipes

I haven't never taken baby Aria to a pumpkin patch yet. I'm planning on taking her soon. I'm sure she will enjoy the scent of fresh straw and the endless plot of pumpkins. I wonder what type of pumpkin she will select. We'll probably pick many so we can turn them into delicious fresh pies, pancakes and sweet bread for the upcoming holidays. In the meantime, I've gathered a list of savory dishes flavored with the deep-orange squash plant. I hope you will find plenty of inspiration in this post. 


I hope Aria has a lot of fun. I heard our local pumpkin patch has an inflatable bounce house and slide; that alone will probably amaze her. Even though the weather seems very warm these days in the Bay Area, summer is gone and fall is definitely in the air.

Asian-Inspired Bison Meatball Appetizer Recipe Recipe

I love bison meat. It's leaner than beef. You could always substitute ground beef for the bison, but this gave the dish a gourmet feel and it tasted fantastic with the flavors I selected for the meatball appetizers I prepared.

I flavored the bison meatball appetizers with fermented beans, five-spice powder, wasabi paste and paired them with a spicy peanut, cilantro pesto with coconut, ginger and cilantro honey.

I used the meatballs as a part of the dish I used for an audition I participated in last weekend. I'm happy to say I passed the first selection for a competitive TV cooking show. I'll let you know more about it soon.

Peach and Spinach Summer Salad Wrap Recipe Recipe

Temperatures are set to hit high numbers these days so to keep the house cool I've tried not to spend too much time behind the stove or use the oven too much. My go-to meal in this situation is fast, casual eating that requires minimal preparation and almost no cooking. My solution this weekend is to make summer salad wraps

I used ripe peaches, baby spinach, goat cheese, cranberries and balsamic vinegar. The wraps are tied together with lavash flatbread. The contrast of colors is strikingly beautiful. And can you guess when this healthy and tasty recipe was born?
