Mulberry Heaven (6 Delicious Mulberry Dessert Recipes) Recipe

During my pregnancy, the girls would pick a basketful of the ripest mulberries from the tree in our garden and bring me a bowl filled with the delicious fruit. So I always tell baby Aria that in a way, she's made of mulberries! In fact, you really can never go wrong with mulberries. If you’ve never had them before, they have a wonderfully complex, sweet and tart flavor with hints of pepper when fully ripe. The intense flavor is almost indescribable. When they get really ripe, the juice thickens to a syrup-like consistency so harvesting them can get very messy and stain your hands and clothes.

I recently was able to find the prized fruits at a local Farmers' Market in Palo Alto. So rush there, whilen there's still time to enjoy the wonderful, summery, seasonal fruit. If not, you can make substitutions depending on what ingredients (such as blueberries) you have available.

Chocolate Blueberry Sable Cookie Recipe Recipe

Sablés are probably one of my favorite cookies. These crumbly cookies hail from France's Normandy region. They're sometimes served with fruit preserves or covered with chocolate, so I thought I'd combine the two and create this unique version with coarsely chopped Belgian chocolate and fresh blueberries.

The crisp, tender, crumbly and lightly sweetened cookies were so delicious the entire family wondered why I didn't bake more. So to fill this temporary void in our lives, I baked a second batch! Mission accomplished.

Apricot Dessert Cup Recipe

Growing your own fruit is such a blessing. Really the only inconvenience is when the birds beat you to the harvest. Our solution this year is our new puppy, Earnest Tofu. In addition to having our friendly family pet who's a wonderful deterrent for birds, squirrels and pests, we're able to pick the fruits when they're not fully ripened from the tree.  For optimum flavor, we speed up the process by placing them in a paper bag with a banana and an apple. Then every day I check their status; it takes patience to get to eat the most delicious fruits!

I was recently able to gather many apricots, so I made my favorite dessert to serve at our dinner social: dessert cups. I used chocolate rum sauce between layers of gingersnap cookies and apricot custard.

Our newest addition to the family (this was taken back in March). Earnest Tofu was named after Oscar Wilde's comedy (one of our family's favorites) and "Tofu" because most of our family members (except for baby Aria and me) are vegetarian!

Banana French Toast Cupcake Recipe Recipe

Pain perdu (French toast) is my way to save day-old bread but today I added a twist to my plain recipe. I turned it into pain perdu cupcakes and flavored them with bananas and figs. To give them a unique flavoring, I used fennel seeds, which pair incredibly well with the ripe fruits.

I'm preparing for an upcoming food project these days (I'll tell you more about it soon) that requires focusing on bread, so we end up with loads of untouched baguettes. Given my aversion to waste, this dessert hits the spot. Pain perdu literally translates to "lost bread” and I can assure you that none of it was lost!

10 Delicious Ways to Use Ripe Peaches Recipe

When we came home from our European trip, we were so ecstatic to find our bountiful garden. I first started with our peach tree and naively started with a small wicker basket. I ended up with a giant wheelbarrow filled with overripe, squishy fruits.

I had a dilemma: how were we going to finish them all without wasting any! If you're Vietnamese, you probably heard your mom telling you when you were a child not to waste food because it's "tội chết" (dreadfully sinful). So here are 10 tasty ways to use ripe peaches. My challenge is to use them up as fast as possible by the end of the week!
