Spicy Stir Fried Beef and Green Beans Recipe

Stir-fried green beans and beef make a delicious dish. First, green beans are deep fried until the outer skin becomes slightly wilted. Once all the beans are fried, they're stir-fried in garlic, chili garlic sauce, black bean sauce and soy sauce with beef. I also thicken the dish with a bit of cornstarch and add chiles for extra flavor. But the key ingredient is cashew nuts, which provide incredible texture and nutritional value with folic acid.

This may not be the healthiest way to prepare a stir fry, but I can’t get enough of it. The natural sweetness of the green beans balances perfectly with the tenderness of the beef. For a healthier alternative, you could substitute tofu for the meat and omit the sesame oil and sesame seeds.

Thinly Sliced Baked Potatoes Recipe

Thinly Sliced Baked Potatoes

01.05.15 by Jackie

After publishing my first cookbook Haute Potato (75 gourmet potato recipes) and feeding our family our favorite potato dishes for years, I thought I had come up with all of the possible ways to cook the starchy, tuberous crop. This potato recipe is an adaptation of my potato flower crisp. This variation is a little easier and quicker to prepare than the original. It's the result of improvising for a dinner party; instead of using individual servings, I laid uniformly mandoline-sliced potato slices in a pretty design on a baking pan and baked them just as you would the potato crisp. The finished product is a thinner potato layer, which might not be as visually festive but it's just as delicious.

So next time you're tempted to create the crispy potato flower but are pressed for time, opt for this quick and easy version.

Triple Chocolate Mousse Recipe Recipe

Triple Chocolate Mousse Recipe

10.10.14 by Jackie

This whimsical chocolate dessert marks the onset of the holiday season. The sweet treat consists of espresso dark chocolate, orange and salted caramel milk chocolate layers. If you omit the garnish, you'll notice that the dessert is egg-free and gluten-free.

Having an almost 3-year old at home is a constant reminder that I need to get prepared to celebrate Halloween. We've gone through so many costume ideas already, I wonder which one Aria will finally agree on when the times comes! For this dessert, I prepared three different flavors of chocolate mousse. The mousse required very few ingredients: milk, whipping cream, butter, sugar and of course chocolate (the star of this sweet treat!).

Vegan Panna Cotta Recipe Recipe

Vegan Panna Cotta Recipe

08.29.14 by Jackie

Panna cotta is a dessert we often ate during our Italian vacation last month. It consists of a combination of cream, milk, sugar and gelatin, which is the key ingredient for binding and thickening the dessert. My husband Lulu, who's a vegetarian, is still on a diet and has been working hard to shed the last few pounds, so I prepared my own version to suit his dietary needs.

Agar agar (made from seaweed) is a great vegan substitute for gelatin. I used hazelnut milk to replace the cream and milk and Manuka honey as the sweetener.

To give an appealing look to the dessert, I served it with red currants ("Corinthes rouges" in French) for a striking contrast in color. The reasoning behind the hazelnut milk is that historically, panna cotta was eaten with fruit and hazelnuts.
