Chocolate Pear Almond Tart Recipe Recipe

This month, we're going to bake a lot in anticipation of Thanksgiving. So start pinning the dessert recipes you like, roll up your sleeves and get baking! The first tart recipe of a long series is flavored with one of my favorite flavor combinations: chocolate, pear and almond. 

I prepared a chocolate crust and made a creamy chocolate almond filling. The fruit topping was freshly picked from Lulu's uncle's tree. After a trip to the oven, out came our first Thanksgiving-worthy dessert!

Balsamic-Braised Red Cabbage Recipe Recipe

I love red cabbage, and I find that some of the best product is available around this time of the year. Its deep ruby color is so appealing. It's very inexpensive and it lasts for a long time. You can either braise, boil, pickle or even purée it.

This evening, I shredded the cabbage and braised it with a balsamic reduction and peanut butter. The result is a lightly sweet and rich side dish. I topped it with shaved sweet Nabulsi cheese for a nice contrast in color.

Artichoke Heart Tart Recipe

The best part of this savory tart recipe is its awesome name. I baked an artichoke heart tart; the cute alliteration made my day.

As for preparation, I made my own Parmesan tart crust, filled it with fresh artichoke heart cream spread and topped it with Havarti cheese with dill. I served it with an arugula salad. Delicious!

It's the time of the year again when I start my detox cleanse. I bought a bag of jumbo artichokes and made gallons of strained artichoke broth. I know it's not very tasty (the smaller the artichokes you boil, the more bitter the taste is) but go for it. As a teenager, Maman (my mother) always gave us the artichoke broth to drink. She used to call it the detox diet drink for smooth, flawless skin, and it does work. Maman would always praise its therapeutic qualities and I guess it stuck with me. Artichokes are a diuretic, so take care if you have any medical conditions, and of course, consult a physician before starting a new diet.

Salmon Orzo Salad Recipe

Today, I prepared a salmon orzo pasta salad. The dish is fairly simple. I broke baked salmon into large pieces and combined them with orzo pasta and a variety of vegetables such as zucchini, corn, roasted bell peppers and string beans.

Baby Aria has a good appetite and given that she's more of a toddler now, she’s able to eat whatever we eat. She's becoming independent and discovers the textures, colors and tastes of new foods every day, especially since she's able to pick up food with a spoon and eat by herself. With dishes like this one, feeding kids nutrient-rich, colorful foods couldn't be easier!

Indian-style Spinach Phyllo Cups Recipe

After learning how to make so many Indian dishes from my husband's paternal grandmother, I noticed that most meals were served family-style with chapati bread, naan, or basmati rice. Our guests love Indian cuisine, so I started to include a few of my favorite dishes, made into bit-sized portions.

I love serving finger food. It allows your guests to easily mix and mingle right before the more formal sit-down part of the meal. Palak paneer phyllo cups are one of the many appetizers I've developed over the years. 

These spinach appetizers require 4 steps: forming the phyllo cups, pan-frying the cubes of paneer cheese, making the Indian spinach and cheese filling and assembling at the last minute when the guests are about to arrive. I usually do the prep way in advance so I can have a stress-free party and start the evening in a good and calm spirit.
