Strawberry Almond Summer Salad Recipe Recipe

We're back to our routine. Lulu has been focused on his work and I'm in charge of providing delicious meals for him. Last night we hosted another dinner party. To save time, I put together a healthy yet delicious strawberry and almond salad for the first course, to the delight of our guests.

Almonds are rich in protein and gave extra crunch to the salad. Strawberries provided color and natural sweetness. I wished I had found the same out-of-this-world mara des bois strawberries I had last week in Paris but thankfully the ones from our garden fit the bill wonderfully. 

Throwing a dinner party doesn't have to be time-consuming. I usually try to make one elaborate dish and a quick and easy dish so I'm not too exhausted when it's time to greet our guests!

10 Delicious Ways to Use Ripe Peaches Recipe

When we came home from our European trip, we were so ecstatic to find our bountiful garden. I first started with our peach tree and naively started with a small wicker basket. I ended up with a giant wheelbarrow filled with overripe, squishy fruits.

I had a dilemma: how were we going to finish them all without wasting any! If you're Vietnamese, you probably heard your mom telling you when you were a child not to waste food because it's "tội chết" (dreadfully sinful). So here are 10 tasty ways to use ripe peaches. My challenge is to use them up as fast as possible by the end of the week!

Stuffed Dates with Duck Prosciutto Recipe

Mascarpone stuffed dates couldn't be a simpler appetizer to assemble. I used Deglet Noor dates, which are firm and not overly-sweet. FIrst, I pitted them and stuffed them with a coffee and rosemary-flavored mascarpone cream. This could surprise, but coffee pairs incredibly well with meat and with the addition of earthy rosemary, the duck prosciutto didn't feel lonely. These appetizers made a great snack; baby Aria and I enjoyed them a lot!

Beet Napoleon with Green Peas and Ricotta Cheese (Mille-Feuille de Betterave et Petits Pois) Recipe

This savory Napoleon dish is heavily inspired by my childhood BFF's homecook expert a.k.a her husband Olivier. They came to visit us in the Bay Area right before we came visiting them in their new Parisian apartment last night. Olivier briefly told me about his savory creation which he calls "mille-feuille de betterave et petits pois" (literally "beet and green pea napoleon") in French. He went on to explain that he prepared green pea-flavored ricotta cheese filling in between thinly-sliced beet layers. I interprated my own version as I didn't have detailed instructions and added phyllo dough as a nice contrast in texture. I also added basil and ground cumin to the ricotta for extra flavor. For additional color, I garnished the first course dish with colorful vegetables from our garden: freshly-picked radishes, bell peppers and cherry tomatoes. I'm not sure Olivier was aiming for the same result but what I can assure you is it was delicious. 

I can't believe my European trip is coming to an end already. I''ll be heading home soon for more book signing appearances. My next ones are taking place at Barnes and Noble. Blueberry Lemonade Recipe

This is a recipe Maman made for baby Aria. It's a quickly prepared homemade blueberry lemonade. She made it in a blender using blueberries, freshly squeezed lemons and loads of honey. 

Every year, Maman and Papa spend their summer in Camargue, in the southern region of Arles, near the Mediterranean sea. And every year they stock up on extremely flavorful, artisanal honey. 

This drink is not only delicious, but very healthful. Give it a try; it's easy to follow!
