Tet Recipe Ideas

02.08.13 by Jackie

With the Asian New Year just around the corner, I'd like to share some of my favorite Asian vegan and vegetarian dishes with you. As I've mentioned many times, there is a tradition of abstaining from meat from the day before the new year through the day after. With as many vegetarians as I have in my house, I always find myself coming up with new variations on Vietnamese dishes.

So whether are looking for vegetarian dishes to fill 3 days or 365, you'll find plenty of inspiration in this post. Enjoy!

*My very sweet 17-year-old sister-in-law Sunny bought these adorable shoes for baby Aria on her recent trip to China last month and I wanted to share it with you.

Chuc Mung Nam Moi! (Year of the Dragon) Recipe

Chúc Mừng Năm Mới (Happy New Year!)! For Vietnamese and many Asian people, tomorrow will be Tết, the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

If you'd like to celebrate, here are a few Asian dishes I cooked and shared on the website throughout the year. The weather isn't that great in the Bay Area, so I probably won't step outside (i still haven't lost the baby weight so I don't think I would fit in an ao dai -traditional Vietnamese dress). I hope this year brings you a lot of joyful moments, good health and of course great food!

Holiday Menu Suggestions (+Giveaway) Recipe

The holiday season is the perfect time to prepare a pretty table filled with fancy dishes. Last year, Lulu and I spent the holidays with my parents in Paris. This year, I'm catching up and I'm preparing dinner for my husband's family. I have a vague idea of what the menu is going to be and if you're also still wondering what to prepare, I've gathered a few of my favorite holiday recipes. Enjoy!

Today's giveaway is a gift pack from John Kelly Chocolates. The company specializes in elevating fudge with the use of high-quality ingredients. The chocolate pieces are enormous, adding to the decadence of the product. The chocolate walnut bars, which are my favorite, are so dense and chocolate-y. I also enjoyed the hawaiian salted fudge bites. For a chance to gorge on all the fudgy goodness from John Kelly Chocolates, just enter on the 25 Days of Giveaways page.
