Stir-Fry Pea Shoot Tendrils in Garlic and Black Bean Sauce (Rau Muong Xao) Recipe

Rau muống xào tỏi, literally fresh stir-fry pea shoot tendrils in Vietnamese is my favorite Asian vegetable. It is a staple that can be found on almost every dinner table in Vietnam. This is mostly because it is very easy to grow and very cheap in Vietnam.

In America, pea shoot tendrils can be quite expensive. I always find it interesting that foods that are considered working-class fare in their country of origin can be so expensive in other place. Maybe it's because they are not grown in great abundance here or maybe it's because immigrants crave the foods of their childhood and are willing to pay more for the memories.

In terms of preparation, pea shoots couldn't be easier. Just stir-fry the vegetables very quickly over high heat. Blend in some garlic and black bean sauce and you're set.

Smoked Salmon on Wonton Puff with Dill Cream Cheese Recipe

Smoked salmon is a very elegant ingredient to serve. It's slightly pricey but you don't need a whole lot to prepare a nice first entree.

Pistachio Pesto Pasta Recipe

Pistachio Pesto Pasta

01.06.09 by Jackie

I bought some Sicilian pistachios that are to die for. We all almost finished the whole package, but I had about a half a cup remaining so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to make a Mediterranean-inspired pesto sauce. I love experimenting with new flavors. Pestos are so versatile. You can pick any nut, herb or dry fruit, oil and cheese; add salt and pepper and you're done. You can keep the extra pesto in an ice-cube tray in your freezer for up to 6 months or for 2 weeks in your refrigerator.

I always keep some pesto on hand for when I need to quickly throw a meal together. It brings so much flavor to pastas, sandwiches, all sort of dips, mashed potatoes, lasagna sauce, chicken. There are a plethora of  possibilities.

Pandan Pistachio White Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

No one can argue with the fact that American cookies are the best. When I lived in Paris and came to the US, I kept bringing a ton of American cookies home to my friends and relatives. Cookies are always a nice treat no matter the age of the cookie monster or the occasion being celebrated. We thought Santa would appreciate and taste some of our homemade cookies with an exotic twist  (pandan extract) for a change.

Today is Christmas Eve and the girls decided we would leave some milk and cookies for Santa tonight. My little munchkin thinks she'll get more presents this way.
