Grilled Nectarine and Goat Cheese Appetizer Recipe Recipe

I love grilling fruit. The natural sweetness creates a caramelized crust while slightly softening the texture of the fruit. Stone fruits in particular work very well. And since I just bought a bunch of white nectarines, I decided to have some fun with them and make sweet and savory appetizers.

I chose nectarines that were ripe but still a little firm, and threw them briefly on the grill. I wanted to make sure they didn't become watery and mushy. Fruity, sweet flavors pair incredibly well with goat cheese, so I nestled the grilled nectarine wedges on thin slices of chèvre and a slightly toasted brioche.

To finish the appetizers, I drizzled the nectarines with date syrup and added a sprinkle of finely chopped garlic chives and flat-leaf parsley. They're very easy to assemble and would make beautiful appetizers for your next summer party!

Savory Muffin Recipe: Mushroom Cream Cheese Muffins Recipe

This morning, I prepared a batch of savory cake batter. I flavored it with fresh herbs from the garden, goat cheese, cream cheese, garlic and shiitake mushrooms. I baked them later in the day and had already prepared a garlic herb goat cheese spread to go along with the savory treats. It was "un délicieux en-cas", which literally means in French a "delicious in case of [I get hungry]"!

Hot Dog Condiment Recipe

If you're planning on a barbecue this Memorial Day weekend, hot dogs might be part of your menu. Hot dogs, along with hamburgers, are the symbol and epitome of American food. The concept here is as simple as it is delicious: a sausage tucked in a long piece of bread.

Of course, I like to have fun with my food. I made my own version using garlic and spinach chicken sausages and a couple of unusual condiments. I used beet goat cheese sauce and a goat cheese spread made with French pickles (called cornichons), chives, curly parsley and mustard. It made for a refreshing change from regular ketchup and mustard. I could eat them by the dozen!

Pumpkin and Goat Cheese Tartlet Appetizers Recipe

Whenever we host parties, I always like to serve bite-size appetizers. For our most recent fete, I made small savory tartlets filled with mashed pumpkin and Butter Gold potatoes. For extra creaminess, I added crumbled goat cheese along with some sesame-flavored candied walnuts for crunch.

The wrapping was made of puff pastry, which I’ve also used for many other types of appetizers. Whatever filling you choose, these cute miniature appetizers are always a hit.

Mediterranean Vegetables: Healthy Side Dish Recipe Recipe

This Mediterranean vegetable medley is not only a healthy side dish, it's also packed with flavor. I mixed red bell pepper, sunburst squashes, crimini mushrooms, green olives and garlic, along with baby eggplants, which fit perfectly in this particular dish. The skin is tender, not bitter and the seeds are very small. I also melted goat cheese at the end to bind all the flavors together. We bought way too many fresh loaves of French bread from the bakery aisle at Safeway, so I took one of the loaves and cut it into small croutons and used them to soak up the juices from the vegetables.

For a non-vegetarian version, I would substitute grilled chunks of chicken for the croutons and serve it on a bed of rice.
