Honey and Mustard Roasted Quail Recipe Recipe

Cailles rôties au miel et à la moutarde translates in English to honey and mustard roasted  quails. This dish is "uber" easy to make, as the girls (they're teenagers) would say. I halved the quails lengthwise for faster cooking time, then glazed the meat with a honey and mustard mixture. The sweetness and subtle heat from the sauce make the perfect sophisticated dish. 

I couldn't resist serving the quails with quenelles of mashed potatoes. Don't get me wrong, I'm still trying as hard as I can to shed the last few pounds I gained during my pregnancy. I work out very hard daily but even though I watch my diet, I don't deprive myself of delicious foods. It's all about portion control. Quails are delicious and smaller sized than chicken. One quail was sufficient for my appetite and I felt full afterwards. I probably would eat two on a regular basis but that would only be out of sheer greediness!

Quiche Lorraine Recipe

Quiche Lorraine, as its name indicates, is a savory tart that originated in the north-eat region of France, la Lorraine. The word quiche is derived from the word "Küchen", which means "cake" in German. What makes the quiche Lorraine stand out is the addition of bacon or lardons to the traditional quiche ingredients.

I made mine with turkey bacon, herbes de Provence and leeks and prepped the dough the night before. I flavored it with herbes de Provence and caramelized onions. You can prepare both the crust and filling separately in advance and assemble at the last minute for a quick and easy dinner meal. Accompany with a salad, serve the dish on your patio (or anywhere outdoors) and you'll feel as if you're sitting on the terrace of a café in France!

Vietnamese Beef and Broccoli Recipe (Thit Bo Xao) Recipe

This is a quick beef stir fry recipe accompanied with broccoli florets and carrots. The sauce consists of sherry wine vinegar, palm sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce and a bit of corn starch as the thickening agent.

I served the beef dish with steamed jasmine rice. It's that simple. Why order out?

Chim Cut Roti Recipe: Vietnamese Quail with Soy Ginger Glaze Recipe

As I've mentioned this before, there are a lot of Vietnamese takes on French dishes. This quail dish is called chim cút rôti; the mustard, coriander and white wine normally found in the French version have been replaced by red chili powder, ginger and soy sauce.

My favorite part is the sweet ginger glaze made with honey. I always end up eating with my fingers.  It may not necessarily be polite, but it's so delicious I wouldn't want to miss a single bite!

Mi Xao Ca Ri Ga (Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Stir Fry Recipe) Recipe

We had Vietnamese chicken curry earlier this week, so I used the leftovers to make this delicious chicken and tofu dish (mì xào cà ri gà). I have an aversion to wasting food, but that doesn't mean that the second life you breathe into a dish has to be any less wonderful than the original creation.

I shredded the chicken from the curry dish and made a stir-fry adding cubed tofu and vegetables available this season. To complete the meal, I added egg noodles. The dish couldn't be simpler to make, and it will work whether you have meat, poultry or seafood.
