Healthy Green Juice Recipe Recipe

Healthy Green Juice Recipe

08.20.14 by Jackie

My friend Carole and her husband have been so keen on making juices, she often gives me suggestions on how to create new drinks with my powerful blender. Today's healthy juice is a blend of pure, freshly pressed apple juice, fresh cucumbers, baby kale, spinach leaves, lime juice, chia seeds and a lot of ice cubes.

The chia seeds add a beautiful consistency to the juice, which can otherwise seem a little flat. They are loaded with health benefits, so if you want to start the day on a wonderful note, take a few minutes to prepare this "superfood" drink and remember to consider adding more greens to your daily life.

Kale Walnut Pesto Mezze Penne Pasta Recipe Recipe

Kale Walnut Pesto Mezze Penne Pasta Recipe

Baby Aria is a bit fussy these days. I'm sure the fact that my husband Lulu's away for his work creates  a bit of distress for her. She's started  consistently saying no to everything I serve up. I figure she's not defying me; she's finding herself. So my remedy was to formulate my statements differently. "Maman is going to eat this delicious pasta dish all by myself" and two seconds later, Aria asked for a portion of it.

She hasn't been eating enough vegetables for my taste so I've found flavoring the dish with pesto is a great way to get finicky kids to eat their veggies. I used mezze penne so all the pesto got trapped inside the ring shaped-pasta. For everyone out there who thinks healthy has to be tasteless, you need to try this dish. It's bursting with flavor without packing on too many calories.

Iced tea is so refreshing on those hot days of summer. Today, I infused fresh spearmint from the garden in green tea. The invigorating fragrance of mint makes it pleasing to even the most refined palate.

I just finished filming the cooking tutorial. You'll see how easy it is to prepare. Sit back, watch, sip and relax!

Asian-Inspired Charred Corn Salad Recipe Recipe

Asian-Inspired Charred Corn Salad Recipe

Corn is in season and it's very inexpensive right now. Charring it and turning it into a salad was a great opportunity to use loads of it. I wanted to give it an Asian twist so I dressed the corn with a miso vinaigrette and added diced, ripe mango and some sesame seeds at the end.

During our recent trip to France, I discovered the multiple uses of Le Puy green lentils. These French lentils are ideal when following a vegetarian diet (which is the case for my husband Lulu). Did you know? First, they're packed with protein. They were orignally grown in the volcanic soils of the Puy area, near Clermont-Ferrand in the heart of the Vend region of Western France.

Blueberry Kiwi Smoothie Recipe Recipe

Blueberry Kiwi Smoothie Recipe

I've tried shedding a few pounds since our return from Florence, Rome and Paris. Almost every year, the girls join me during the summer in my workout and diet routine. Mimi, Lulu's 14-year-old little sister, surprised me this morning and prepared the fruitiest, packed-with-energy smoothie. She didn't use any additional sweeteners, except for the natural sweetness from bananas, blueberries and golden kiwis

Mimi used our powerful Vitamix blender. For a smoother flow, she also added almond milk. When I first met her, Mimi used to have awful allergies with almonds, but since her teenage years, she has overcome this specific allergy. Unfortunately, we've discovered new ones, especially during our trip to Florence. She's allergic to truffle mushrooms now; go figure!
