Mulberry Hazelnut Apple Tart Recipe

In my opinion, your Valentine essentials consist of anything with chocolate; it's sort of the unofficial sponsor of Valentine's Day. But chocolate isn't always given, and if your special someone isn't a chocolate lover (hard as that may be to believe), I have an alternative dessert. I prepared a hazelnut cream apple tart with a hidden layer of mulberry preserves that I canned last summer.

I'm sure your sweetie will be appreciate your sweet (no pun intended) gesture and that these little drool-inducing sweets will create special memories in his/her heart.

Peppermint Bark Pecan Pie Recipe Recipe

Peppermint Bark Pecan Pie Recipe

Last night, we served pecan pie at the end of our Christmas Eve dinner, but it wasn't your usual pecan pie. This one had peppermint bark nested at the bottom of the crust. The idea was to combine all the elements of a holiday assortment in one dessert.

To do so, I melted dark chocolate and added crushed peppermint candy canes, then smeared the pie crust with a thin layer of the peppermint bark. To complete the dessert, we offered eggnog to those who wanted a drink and peppermint ice cream to the others.

Pecan Squares Recipe

Maple syrup is a staple breakfast item in our pantry. We usually use it as is to drizzle over pancakes and waffles, but since we had extra pecans for Thanksgiving, the girls and I prepared pecan squares flavored with our favorite syrup.

The topping is made of a mixture of maple syrup, of course, orange zest, brown sugar and loads of pecans. I usually bake these squares during the Christmas season.

Easy Apple Tart Recipe

I am beyond excited the weekend is here. This means it's dessert time and that my husband Lulu will be home after a week-long business trip. Lulu has a weakness for sweets so I'm sure he won't have any complaints about this apple tart

This French dessert is one of the easiest tarts to assemble, with only about 5 ingredients. It has an apple- sauce filling and is brushed with apricot preserves at the end for a shiny look.

Pi Day Recipe

Pi Day

Mathematics plays a huge role in baking and if you've been following the most recent recipes on PhamFatale, you probably noticed Sunny's gorgeous vanilla buttercream ruffle cake. For those who might not know, Sunny is my oldest (and self-proclaimed coolest) sister-in-law. She's 18 and a senior in high school. Sunny is a math genius who recently caught the baking fever. Since it's her last year in high school, her homework workload has diminished quite a bit and now she feels the urge and has the energy to bake a lot after school! It's a good thing she excels in mathematics; measurements, fractions and geometry are necessary in this culinary field too. Coincidentally, she will receive by the end of today an answer from one of her college applications. We're all very anxious about the results (nobody wants her to move to the East Coast!).

We have no clue where Sunny will attend college next year; all I can predict is she's going to love the pies I bake for her today on Pi Day. Whether the answer from colleges is positive or not, I know she'll find comfort in one of her favorite treats: pie!

I've listed many of the pie recipes I've baked recently. Enjoy!
