Cauliflower Asparagus Manicotti Pasta Recipe Recipe

I’ve been feeling kind of miserable since getting home from our trip to Paris. Not only have I caught a nasty cough, but I'm still heavily jet-lagged.  What’s worse, I haven't visited the gym in almost a month and I have a mountain of tasks I need to complete very soon before I become totally overwhelmed. As you may have guessed, my cure for most problems is cooking, and today, I made one of my favorite comfort foods, something creamy, cheesy and filled with vegetables: an asparagus and cauliflower manicotti pasta.

To reduce the amount of cheese, calories and guilt in the béchamel sauce, I blended cauliflower into the white sauce. Once softened, the cauliflower became very creamy and gave extra body to the dish.

Wheat Germ Turkey Bolognese Sauce Recipe

Wheat germ is a nutritious, healthier alternative to regular pasta or bread. Don't get frightened by its healthy, power-food label. Plain wheat germ tastes delicious; it has a nutty, slightly sweet taste and works wonderfully in both savory and sweet dishes.

I prepared this wheat germ dish with a turkey Bolognese sauce. Once you get comfortable with the ingredient, feel free to get creative!

Bamboo Tofu Recipe Recipe

Bamboo Tofu Recipe

During our trip to Paris, my husband Lulu indulged in many cheeses and French desserts. Now that we're back home, we're back to healthier meals. In keeping with that spirit, I prepared a tofu dish with young bamboo shoots, carrots, baby corn and cucumbers.

Fresh bamboo shoots provide a meaty, slightly crunchy texture and incredible subtle flavor to the dish. If you happen to find this unusual ingredient fresh at your local Asian grocery store, be sure to give it a try.

Mango Cake Recipe

This mango dessert is my way of raging against the dying of the (sun)light. Fall is here, but at least it can be summer on our dessert plates!

While I was in Paris, I had quite a few delicious clafoutis. This dessert is inspired by those treats. I caramelized a ripe mango, diced it and covered it with a clafoutis-like batter. A short time in the oven, et voilà! The spongy, sweet dessert was a fabulous feast. It's best eaten warm with a hot cup of tea. It’s also a great alternative to French toast for a lovely Sunday brunch.

Saumon au Citron Confit (Preserved Lemon Salmon Recipe) Recipe

While I was in France, Maman, Papa, baby Aria and I enjoyed a lot of seafood. Maman's favorite fish is salmon and this recipe was an ultra easy one to cook. Citron confit is widely available in Paris but you can also easily make your own. I prepared the salmon marinade with preserved lemons, coriander, cumin and ginger. You could serve it on a bed of couscous topped with pine nuts, but we opted for some spinach instead. Simply sauté fresh spinach in olive oil, add a dollop of crème fraîche, the juice of an orange, cayenne pepper and a pinch of fleur de sel. All these North African flavors tasted phenomenal!

I'm finally back to the US and it feels so good to be home. Baby Aria is ecstatic being kissed and cuddled constantly by everyone. Thank you so much for being so patient and for all your supportive messages!
