Artichoke Heart Tart Recipe Recipe

Artichoke Heart Tart Recipe

The best part of this savory tart recipe is its awesome name. I baked an artichoke heart tart; the cute alliteration made my day.

As for preparation, I made my own Parmesan tart crust, filled it with fresh artichoke heart cream spread and topped it with Havarti cheese with dill. I served it with an arugula salad. Delicious!

It's the time of the year again when I start my detox cleanse. I bought a bag of jumbo artichokes and made gallons of strained artichoke broth. I know it's not very tasty (the smaller the artichokes you boil, the more bitter the taste is) but go for it. As a teenager, Maman (my mother) always gave us the artichoke broth to drink. She used to call it the detox diet drink for smooth, flawless skin, and it does work. Maman would always praise its therapeutic qualities and I guess it stuck with me. Artichokes are a diuretic, so take care if you have any medical conditions, and of course, consult a physician before starting a new diet.

Roasted Whipped Eggplant Dip Recipe Recipe
Today, my husband Lulu came home a little earlier than I expected. While he played with baby Aria, I concocted an easy dip for them to munch on before dinner. First, I roasted an eggplant. I let the eggplant cool and gathered the pulp. Then I mashed the mixture with the back of a fork, which was a reasonable substitute for a good arm workout (I'm finally back to my gym routine. Yay!). Lastly, I incorporated whipped cream for a light, almost airy eggplant dip.

I served the dip with warm pita bread and Persian cucumber sticks. If you'd like a fancier look, you could use it as a filling in phyllo dough cups or pre-baked puff pastry tartlets. Either would be an elegant item to serve at parties.

Halloween Party Food Ideas Recipe

Halloween Party Food Ideas

10.28.13 by Jackie

Halloween is a few days away. My husband Lulu is going to be Batman, I'll put together a Robin costume for myself using a green skirt, red top, yellow belt and a black mask (I'm still not sure if people will know who I am) and Aria is going to be a white tiger. Since Halloween is going to be on a school night, we're not having a party and I'm not planning on cooking anything ghoulishly green or scary.

Nevertheless, we will definitely bake a lot. I re-created my delicious green pandan madeleine cookies and a few witch finger cookies. I've compiled a few other suggestions if you're planning Halloween-themed party food.

I love Halloween; it's an extra special holiday for Lulu and meI. We got married the day before Halloween and we'll be celebrating our 9th anniversary. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Jack O'Lantern Halloween Cookies Recipe

As usual, I prepared an enormous batch of sugar cookie dough in anticipation of Halloween. Making cookies in different shapes and sizes is a perfect way to celebrate the holiday. The recipe is ultra-simple, and all you need is quick and easy sugar cookie dough flavored with a bit of vanilla and a good, pointy paring knife.

These are simple pumpkin-shaped cookies. As soon as the girls got back from school, they designed their own decorations. Baby Aria and I preferred the ones without any additional icing or sprinkles but we still created facial features inside the cookies.

Ghost Halloween Lemongrass and Ginger Beef Noodles Recipe

Boo! I have to admit I'm a little ashamed of today's Halloween-inspired meal. I prepared Vietnamese beef noodles (bún thịt bò xào xả gừng in Vietnamese) today and I had in mind that I'd be able to have fun with the rice noodles and create scary mummies. In the end, it looked neither like a mummy nor a ghost. As we were eating dinner, little Lala asked for 2 whole black peppercorns and found a solution to our mummy situation. Et voila! What do you think?

Cold beef noodle salads are very common in Vietnam and they are definitely a staple in my home. Sauteed beef in lemongrass is served with thick rice noodles and an abundance of Vietnamese greens. It might not be the creepiest meal for the Halloween season, but it sure is delicious.
