Gorgonzola Kale Brioche Tart (Savory Tart Recipe) Recipe

I usually make savory tarts with a pâte brisée (which is the classic pastry crust) or pâte sablée (crumbly, shortbread savory crust). But this time, since I prepared a tart with a very pungent filling with the use of gorgonzola, I wanted to soften the flavors with brioche crust.

To keep things somewhat "light", I added little dollops of kale pesto to the top of the tart. Healthy, you ask? Maybe not, but at least we got to eat a nice portion of greens at the same time!

Apricot Dessert Cup Recipe Recipe

Apricot Dessert Cup Recipe

Growing your own fruit is such a blessing. Really the only inconvenience is when the birds beat you to the harvest. Our solution this year is our new puppy, Earnest Tofu. In addition to having our friendly family pet who's a wonderful deterrent for birds, squirrels and pests, we're able to pick the fruits when they're not fully ripened from the tree.  For optimum flavor, we speed up the process by placing them in a paper bag with a banana and an apple. Then every day I check their status; it takes patience to get to eat the most delicious fruits!

I was recently able to gather many apricots, so I made my favorite dessert to serve at our dinner social: dessert cups. I used chocolate rum sauce between layers of gingersnap cookies and apricot custard.

Our newest addition to the family (this was taken back in March). Earnest Tofu was named after Oscar Wilde's comedy (one of our family's favorites) and "Tofu" because most of our family members (except for baby Aria and me) are vegetarian!

Kale Risotto Recipe Recipe

Kale Risotto Recipe

My husband Lulu has been traveling nonstop for his work these days. I haven't cooked for him in so long.  He flew back from Dallas last night, so I thought I'd surprise him with one of his favorite meals: risotto. This rice dish is so versatile that there are always new opportunities for creativity; this time I flavored it with kale and sweet basil leaves. I also added sharp Cheddar and Pecorino cheese and a touch of heavy cream at the end.

Lulu's flight got delayed and he ended coming home really late. So I packed it for him this morning. Hopefully his schedule won't be too busy during lunch time and he'll be able to enjoy it today!

Methi Chicken Curry Recipe

I learned this recipe from my husband Lulu's aunt Huma. I call her Huma Chachi because she's Lulu's father's sister-in-law. She's an amazing cook and can put on the most wonderful feast in the twinkling of an eye.

Recently, Huma Chachi prepared chicken methi. It's an Indian chicken curry made with dried fenugreek leaves. Baby Aria loved it so much, I replicated the same recipe days later. It's best served with steamed basmati rice.

Cherry Time (Cherry Recipe Suggestions) Recipe

My husband Lulu planted a sweet cherry tree 6 years ago and it didn't produce much fruit until 2-3 years ago. At first, we only planted one tree. The next year, we learned that we needed to plant another tree nearby to help pollination. What we didn't know at the time was that they shouldn't be next to each other to form fruit but instead, they should be spaced out to ensure they didn't damage each other. Finally, with the help of Lulu's friend who holds a master's degree in horticulture told us sweet cherry trees should be planted within flying distance of the pollinizers. This year the crop is so huge that each branch holds at least 2 dozen cherries.

We've been asking friends and family to take some home, but we still have more, so I pair them with everything, just as I did earlier with peaches. Of course, we eat them non-stop but I also manage to cook with them. Cherries are one of the healthiest foods to eat, so why not take advantage! I've gathered 15 cherry recipes to share with you. I especially like cherries with poultry
